Motorola e398, stateside availability -->
long time lurker, first time posting. ive been following the whole motorola trend for a while and for a bit i was completely torn between the e398 and the v710 (or 810) for a new phone. the decision would have determined which carrier i subscribed to as well. needless to say, i have my heart set on the e398 and therefore the GSM networks.
reading the specs of the phone, i notice that it doenst have a 800 or 850 mhz mode which we use here in the states. there is 900, but i believe that is Euro/Asia.
couple of questions..
1) supposively there is a stateside model with 800/850. anyone have any info regarding this release and its availability?
2) assuming that the 800/850 model isnt delivered for quite a while, wh...
The 800/850 frequency is used by AT&T and Cingular GSM Networks in the US. T-Mobile however works on the 1900 band. So the European model or any GSM phone with 900/1800/1900 will work in the US on the TMO Network. Hope this helps.
If you don't want to wait, and go for the Euro model, you'll be fine with T-Mobile. If you have AT&T or Cingular, I would wait for the 850 version.
I have a place in my neighborhood (NYC) that claims to have the 850/800 US model, how can I ber cetail that they are not just selling me the Euro verson which only has the 1900 use in the USA. Is there an indicator on the box, or is the phone sligtly different?
