Not to be argumentative, but you are confusing "resolution" with "dpi" or "pixel density". Resolution has nothing whatsoever to do with the screen size. I have a device with a 12" screen that has a resolution of 800x600. I also have a OG Droid, with a resolution of 480x854. If i tip it sideways, I can get most of the pixels of the 800x600 device to show on the 3" screen (resolution is effectively the same). However, the same number of pixels displays in a much smaller space, so the dpi is tons higher on my OG droid.

I don't think the resolution difference between the devices will be that significant. Android itself didn't do a very good job of supporting the higher resolution of the OG droid, especially at first, there were tons of apps that wouldn't run properly; this has resolved itself, for the most part, but the fundamental point remains, that the OG droid represented a significant leap in resolution. NONE of the new generation phones are that much greater than the older phones. 854 vs 960 is only slightly over 100 pixels difference, which is slightly over 10%. 480-540 is just about the same ratio....

Now the display technology is going to be pretty significant, but again, both will look awesome, and a huge part of the difference will be what you are using it for. If you are a heavy gamer type, there is very little question that the Bionic will be a better phone for you. However, I don't think the average consumer will notice the differences. Even for non-gamers, the reality is that for most of us who frequent these forums, we will know the differences, and it will sway our judgement, but again, the average man on the street is highly unlikely to be able to tell the difference. Cool
