TV Out Funtion?

phone.tech

I currently use HTC's Touch Pro 2 which uses the charging/data port for its TV Out funtion. I know the HTC ThunderBolt just came out but does anyone know whether or not this phone will use the charging/data port for a direct connect TV Out funtion as well since HTC did not include the HDMI port or is the only TV Out funtion through the DLNA feature? Thanks...

The EVO would only be HDMI so I'm assuming DLNA only..

Replying to my own question. I emailed HTC directly in regards to my TV Out question so I thought I'd put the answer on here for those of you who may be wondering the same thing. HTC told me the only means of TV Out on the ThunderBolt is by the DLNA feature. The charging/data port is just that, for charging & data transfer to/from your computer. BUMMER!

Yeah... Based on the reports, The HTC Thunderbolt has the same specifications as the Evo from Sprint minus the HDMI out. The Thunderbolt uses DLNA which allows the phone to stream media content.

BUT...for those of you who don't know yet, I just found out that HTC has developed an accessory for their DLNA phones. Its about credit card size, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 in. thick. It's a DLNA receiver for those newer tv's that don't have the DLNA built in. The accessory is simple. First you plug the power cord in, then second you plug the device into your HDMI port on your tv. You can then have your DLNA phone, such as the ThunderBolt, scan for the device. Once found and connected wirelessly, you can then stream your music, pictures, and video's/movies to your tv. So, at least they ...

that's great if your TV has HDMI in. Of course, an HDMI out from your phone is only useful if you have an HDMI in on your TV.... 🤣
