My new V810 does not seem to have the speakphone function. The manuel says it does, but it simply does not. Motorola tech support doesn't know why it doesn't -- does anybody know what the deal it?

I, as well as most other V810 owners, have had this issue with Motorola and USCC regarding the V810.

The V810 definitely has a speakerphone feature, in fact one of the best out there.

The box that the V810 is shipped in says so.

The owner's manual, which is so poorly written, alludes to the speakerphone, on Page 71. It errantly describes the speakerphone as an optional accessory, (unless the Latin American version lacked it).

The owner's manual makes the faux pas of directing the user to use a dedicated speakerphone key (if available). If not, which is the case, the user (again, errantly) directs the user to activate the Menu Key at the top of the key pad to activate the speakerphone. Strike Three Motorola.

Well said. The speakerphone is darn good. The manual, however, is poorly written...even Motorola would admit it. Lots of this has to with the long delays in getting this phone out. Still, its no excuse since most Moto manuals are very good.

Wow...I don't know what USCC reps would say something stupid like that. As soon as we got our V810s a while back and figured out that the manual was incorrect, we just figured that Motorola changed it from whatever the original version was. Then we figured it out on our own and passed it on. Whoever would even suggest a customer to pay for speakerphone use is ridiculous.! 🙄 But yes...the speakerphone on the v810 is definitelt one of the best!

Well, believe it or not -- my manuel does give instructions as you pointed out -- press the "ok" key while a call is in progress and then press the "yes" soft key upon being given the "speakphone option" -- Unfortunately, that method simply does absolutely nothing. I have tried it numerous times and the only options I get on the soft keys are "mute", "contact" and the menu. There seem to be numerous phones in my area with the exact same problem.

I am wondering if Motorola simply put out a batch of phones that did/does not include this function. My service provider does not know the answer either -- as well as the techs at Motorola. I have had one Moto rep. suggest that all the phones need to have their programing reinstalled at a leve...

1. If you have the manual with the gray/silver cover, it is possible the instructions for the speakerphone are detailed correctly.

2. The other thing is to be sure to press the blue OK button ONLY. Sounds simple, but it is easy to accidentally press the one or more of the home keys in addition to the blue OK button.
