I absolutly love the features of the camera but the camera itself is just horrible its so dark i cant make out anything in the picture my friends v220 gets brighter images with no flash ..i took it back to us cellular and they said thats as good as it gets so my question is what settings do you use for your camera or is there a way to fix mine

You can adjust the brightness by using the right home key when the camera is enabled. The flash really only works on dark conditions and with night mode -- the flash lasts a full second.
In normal indoor conditions and outside during the day the camera is fine...for a camera phone.
