what a waste of a phone!!!

What a waste of what seems like a decent, BASIC model Motorola phone (V810).... to make it ONLY available to the dozen or so US Cellular customers in the country. (Exaggerating the "dozen," of course, but why not a major carrier?! .... UGH!)

Well a couple of points.
It is a CDMA phone so not every carrier can support it. The market is divided between several formats and for some reason the same model is seldom available for all formats.
Also it is the carrier who decides what phones they want to support. Verizon was going to carry this and decided not to - probably because USC started carrying it. As a marketing thing carriers don't like to duplicate phones that a competitor is carrying. That prevents the consumer from shopping around.

Thanks. Actually I'm aware of everything you said. And you're correct, of course. I'm just venting that it's NOT available from Verizon ... not necessarily questioning "why" it's not available from Verizon.

Yeah. I'm bummed about it, too. I really think Verizon missed the boat on this one and focused too much on the v710 launch when the v810 could have been out way before it. The build-quality on the v810 is superior to the v710, even though they are completely different units aimed at completely different users.

Well, its partly marketing and I'm sure when US Cellular took it on, it didn't help matters. The only aspect of the Verizon version that was buggy from my experience was Mobile Web 2.0. Any other software issues would have or could have been fixed if Verizon wanted it done.

Its a great mid-tier phone, even though it came out 10 months late. We'll probably never know the real reason why Verizon nixed it. Hopefully, Motorola will make a small, sleek phone with a large display...how 'bout a v815?...and Verizon will actually take it.

i think its a nice phone...a little on the small side but a lot of fun..theres a lot of camera features that the other uscc's didn't have like sepia mode and emboss mode...(makes you look like Han Solo in carbonite.. 🤣 ) but the talking key options a lil stupid..do i really want a female voice yelling "FIVE! THREE!" etc has some great standard graphics too,,,

I spoke to a Motorola rep on the phone and they told me that Verizon Wireless will definitely carry the v810. The exact release date is not decided yet. 🙄

Thanks for that update. Glad to hear it, if it's true. Interesting. There seem to be those on here and elsewhere (with supposed inside info) who SWEAR the phone is dead for Verizon. Guess the only sure bet is seeing it on store shelves.

Well, I do think the phone is all but dead for Verizon, but it was never "formally" rejected by Verizon. In other words, don't count on it being out but, yes, as I have always stated, its still possible. The phone works great with the exception of the WAP 2.0 browser, which is somewhat unstable. GIN works great.

I just posted a longer response to this very topic in the v265 forum here.

Sorry. I cannot reveal other than to say it was not through Motorola or Verizon.

This is good news even if it doesn't ever come out for Verizon. Keep the v810 alive for Verizon!

There are a ton of phones being released for VZW in the next few weeks including 2 from Moto. I don't believe they wil also be releasing the 810 as well. Wishful thinking from the Moto Rep. I'd have more confidence hearing it from a VZW rep.

I've talked to the VZW reps as well and they said that they will be getting more phones from Moto in but it won't for awhile. I guess they're waiting to see how well the V710 sells before they get more Motos.

The v260 and v265 are just about out of testing and are on the fast track at VZW. Look for them within a month or so.

How sure was this Motorola rep on the Verizon release? Did he/she acknowledge that Verizon had changed its mind from a "yes" to a "no" to "yes" again?

I'm not quite sure. All I know is that when I spoke to Moto, they said that since U.S. Cellular came with the V810, Verizon would get it as well. Plus, I visited USC and spoke to the sells rep and he told the same thing. I even wrote an email to Moto. This shows just how bad I can't wait till Verizon starts carrying this phone because it looks so awesome!! I was going to buy the V710, but that phone looks too big and blue tooth is something I'm not worried about. Now THAT'S a waste of phone for ya. 🙄

So tell me how these Moto and USCC CSRs have all this "insight" into VZW marketing and product strategies. Sounds like BS to me. Like I've been saying I'll believe it when I hear it from VZW people NOT Moto or USCC reps. Better start looking at the v260/265 because the 810 isn't coming out on VZW. Unfortunately, it's time has come and past. In the world of cellular it's now "old" news. Moto and VZW have moved on.

you notice when some of these guys think that verizon is getting this phones it is the best thing since sliced bread but when they find out they arent it is a waste and a low end phone huh advice to those who want this phone and live in a usc area make the switch you will be happier with the service anyways

Actually, I don't see anyone bashing this phone. We're saying it looks like a pretty sharp, useful phone. I'm saying I really wish Verizon would carry it, and that's what I'm hearing from others. As far as US Cellular, service may be great, but for coverage...forget about it. USC might be great for someone who lives in, like Omaha, and never leaves Omaha!!! (fyi, I don't really know if USC is even in Omaha, but you get the point.) For those of use who live in mobile world, we need a real mobile carrier...like Verizon.

Let me repeat...there is still a chance the v810 will be out for Verizon, but don't count on it. Its quite possible Verizon will have both the v810 and v265 in its lineup. Only time will tell... 🙂
