I have a question - no I am not being sarcastic. Just curious

The intention of this is not to flame anyone so please don't respond that way. I have a genuine question...

Why is it that anyone cares about this phone?

Other than being a little smaller than the 6000 or 8900, it wass designed to compete with them. That generation of phone is passing and Moto couldn't fix the QC in time to get it out. Those phones are becoming obsolete now and everyone is moving to better phones at OPP (opening price points). You can get videos etc.

I understand that some may want it because it is a Moto, but even that doesn't make sense to me. It has been a long time since they have made a good phone compared with the Toshibas and LGs of the world. If you can get more features in a better phone, why would a...

ericdkop, if you're a snob then I am as well. Don't feel bad about it, I know I am and it's not a bad gig. I owned a Nokia, Sanyo and a Moto. All my friends have either an LG or a Samsung and personally for me, I don't like the design nor the feel of them. Moto was one of the originators of the cell phone and I'm happy to stick with them through the good (startac, v60) and the bad (t720-730).

Preach on, brother. I had a startac and a v60, and I'm loyal to companies like Moto that I feel make good quality products. the v60 had the perfect size, style, and functionality. And anyone who can remember back to the startac days know that that phone was truly revolutionary and basically created...

Now THAT I understand. I really liked my old StarTac phone. Too bad it has been a decade since the company has done anything else like that. At some point - I don't know when - I finally decided that I couldn't stay loyal if they couldn't stay competitive.

That's a fair reason dilbert. I like to believe that things happen in cycles. The Pistons for example. They won the championship back in 89-90, were competitive for a couple years then didn't do so hot till the early 2000's and now won the championship again. At least I'm hoping Moto works in cycles. I hear that there are a lot of bugs with the v810 but I think no matter what it has it'll be way better than my t730. The v710's size...

i also had a star-tac, but that was back in 1999 when analog was the best and moto phones were the best. times DO change and this IS 5-years later. back then, AT&T had the best mobile converage on the planet. only a few months ago they were sold. why? because they couldn't cut the mustard anymore, it was the only logical solution. are you going to sign a contract with someone that was just sold because at one point they were the best? i hope not, but that's what you are saying when you will purchase a new, and yet already outdated, phone from moto because at one point they made the best mobile phones on the market!

that is like having a dvd player hooked up to your favorite 20" television that's 5 years old, but you consider it the best...

DinoVelvet, I hope you're not blasting me because seriously, what's the point? I'm giving my own opinion on what I think. Like it or not if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all, plain and simple. It's called respect and class. Fine, you have an opinion on me and whatever but this forum is not for people to make fun or vilify other people. If that gets you off then go to the v710 forum because that's what everybody does there. And for your information I might not even get a v810, v710 or a new phone whatsoever. I'm looking for a new set of golf clubs.

P.S. DinoVelvet, don't insult me. You don't know me and pretty much if you did you'd come to learn that you're totally off base.

Well put about the immature comments!

The only difference in opinion I have with you is that the 810 is not the culmination of all of the best things. This phone was designed to come out with the 8900 and 6000. After all this time Moto still can't get it launched.

I just don't get why people like this phone. It is no different than the other phones that are already being discontinued (other than 1/10" and 1/4 oz.).

I'm glad you are going to get the phone you want because that is all that really matters - not what I think about it. I just don't get it.

I don't know why you are bashing this phone....it has not even hit the market yet!!! Look at the LG 3200....came out a couple months ago...simple, no frills, minimal extras....you could say this phone is behind the times.....but it has been one of the most popular selling phones at VZW since its release.
There are 2 kinds of people who buy phones:
1. People who want the latest and greatest.
2. People who want a phone to JUST MAKE PHONE CALLS!!!

VZW has over 40 million customers....i'm pretty sure versatility helps the company.

If you really want a phone that does everything why don't you get a PDA like the Samsung I-600? Or is that phone too complicated for you?

Nice sarcasm. Troubles with intellectual conversation? That must be why you counted to two in your post. Trying to show off you could get that high.

The point is that VZW has two other phones just like this (9900 and 6000). They are long into their life cycles (need smaller words or are you ok so far?). That means that they are being priced extremely low in the market. Only a few weeks ago you could buy two phones for $79.

In other words, there are phones just like the 810 for a year and they will cost a lot less than the 810 will. Why is anyone excited about a phone that doesn't add a single thing new, yet will be priced higher than others that do the same thing? Oh wait... it must be because of that infamous (sorry for the ...

The 710 should be an awesome phone, but it seems prett big. That is the problem. Who knows when the 810 will actually be out. My GF has the 670 she really loves the phone. I am in between getting the 670 or waiting for the 810.
