I agree out of the box the thing is awful, but I have a friend with one. We removed all the widgets from the device to start, and then added back only the ones he needed, and the device wasn't that bad from then on.

Motorola's problem is that they fill EVERY SCREEN with widgets, where if you look at typical users (who they are marketing to with this phone) they'll use 1 maybe 2 screens worth of app shortcuts.
