Looks good on paper but how is the overall operating system vs. iPhone?

I know this is gonna stur up a lot of controversy but on paper the Droid 2 sounds superior to any iPhone but my main concern is the operating system and the easy of use of it. I'm a little biased since I have a iPhone 3GS and my buddy has the original Droid and I still think my older iPhone is better then anything else out there. I have another friend that has the EVO and that thing is HUGE! Ya it has an even better camera (as far as megapixels), larger display and faster processor but in overall experience in using it I prefer the iPhone.

You've already indicated your bias so I'm not sure there is anything to discuss here. If you want a valid comparison between the iPhone os and Droid 2.1 or 2.2 you can always do a comparison with the Droid X since it's the same os just different hardware specs.

If your post is any indication though I doubt you will be interested in the Droid. You seem more comfortable with the iPhone anyway.

Great response! Too many times people get on here to give their own biased input on a phone that they don't have intention officer buying or using. The original iphone made all cell phone manufacturers step up and make their product lines more appealing and competitive. Droid, Evo, Droid X, Samung Galaxy Series and Incredible are proof of that improvement. To simply be biased to the phone of your preference doesn't help readers much and leaves little to discuss.

I have used 3G iPhones before, but the 3G isn't a fair comparison... it's running on a paltry 414 MHz Processor. To really compare the Droid 2/X/Evo/Incredible/Galaxy S/etc. you need the iPhone 4, which sports the 1GHz processor as well.

I prefer Android because of its more open design and adaptability to devices (see: XDA Developers and the XDAndroid project), which makes for interesting things happening.

FWIW: I'm considering changing from my Iphone 3G to the Droid X or Droid 2.

I'm really mad at Apple right now!

Coincidentally, just before the Iphone 4 was released, my Iphone 3G starts working real slow. I'm not sure if it is Apple or AT&T but something has changed. Could it be that they are messing with me to get/force me to upgrade? I don't know, but I'm not the only one that feels this way. I've had this confirmed with other Iphone users in my area of Florida.

Also, I'm ready to try something different and the Droid 2 seems like a good match for me. I just wish it didn't have the slide out keyboard that I'll never use...and give me a thinner/lighter phone.

Maybe I should just wait a few months and see if something like...

The Droid Incredible is pretty similar to the Droid2. It will get 2.2 "soon". the DroidX too (and the DroidX is insanely light, and very thin as well, it really doesn't "feel" that big when you hold it), although it's more in the line of the EVO, so it might be larger than what you are looking for. The Samsung Galaxy series that's coming to verizon also is keyboardless, but it is in the 4" screen class also. On the other hand, it's sporting a 1.2 Ghz processor, which is supposed to be pretty spiffy.

Personally, when I got the Droid, the biggest selling point was the physical keyboard. Now, not so much, but there are some things that it is REALLY nice to a physical keyboard.

If you prefer your phone 3G to the OG Droid, or the Evo, then you will prefer the Iphone 4 to probably any android phone out there.

Oddly enough, although I am a pretty rabid Android fan myself, I'm OK with that. I am perfectly happy to allow that different phones and different ways of working/thinking work better for different people. As the old adage goes "different strokes for different folks".
