IrDA transfering with the g4050
Anyone had any luck transfering backgrounds or ringtones via the Infrared port? I've been able to get a connection but when I try to transfer anything the 4050 "actively refuses" it.

Haven't tried yet, but I'm glad I saw this message before I did. I was wondering if this was possible myself. You are talking about phone to phone IR, right?

No luck w/ringers or backgrounds, however I DID manage to export my phone book from my Nokia 8260 and get it imported to my LG 4050.
I had to get the LG software from a russian website.
I also had to get an IRDB/USB adapter for my PC. The software that came w/the adapter would initiate the communication w/the phone, but that was it -- the phone would not go beyond "I'm here".
There is supposedly a composer with the LG software I downloaded, but I have not tried it .. I just "push" new ringtones to my phone via the WIX browser ...
