Disappointed

I was happy to hear about this phone until checking out the specs. It would be nice if it had a stronger processor, PC synch, data tethering, UMA, and Java (JME2). Basically, wished it was a smartphone like the HTC HD2, but with Android instead of Windows Mobile. Is it 4G-ready? ☹️

T-Mobile is pushing it as a 4G phone.

I agree, a few more features would have really set this phone apart from the rest... And yes, kinda, Its HSPA+ enabled which will actually push top speeds of up to 21.5 megs per sec of data.. Well or at least as fast as that 800 MHz processor will let it.. lol..
Gonna be a cool phone, COULD have been an AWESOME phone.

This thing blows everything out there (including snapdragon, hummingbird, a4, and omap) processors out of the water.

The theoretical top speed for the g2 is 14.4mgbps. Not 21.5, only the rocket is capable of reaching those speeds.

It's amazing and faster than pretty much EVERYTHING out there with the possible exception of the Desire HD
You won't get Java because android doesn't pay royalties for java mobile, and computer synching programs are available.
You will never have a phone that is "just like os 1, but os 2 instead"

Save your breath menno. I've been telling people that for a month now on here and on tmonews and so many people are still like "derrrr its fail no 1ghz!" If they don't understand processor architecture they should just try it out and compare side by side maybe then they'll understand. I just watched a benchmark on the g2 and it smoked everything else on the market....

The processor is very good. The processor type is more important than the raw speed in MHz. An 800 MHz processor can actually be faster than a 1 GHz processor.
There are many sync options for Android.
T-Mobile is rolling out UMA for Android.
Android is Java. It's not J2ME, but why on earth would you want that? Android apps are much better and more powerful than J2ME apps. J2ME is ancient and not originally designed for touch phones with modern UIs.
