EPIC is epic... But the Battery is an EPIC FAIL
I have to say that it sucks to walk into my local SPRINT store, where I know them as I've been doing business with them for 10 years or so, and, when I mentioned that I had a battery that was dying fast, have them ask me if I had my BT shut off.... Really? I have to disable a critical function of the phone in order to be able to use it? That makes NO SENSE!
Also. And I find this most laughable... everyone is saying to make sure that the 4G is off... So... Is it rude for me to notice the elephant in the room called SPRINT's advertising of 4G as the Second Coming, but also point out that we're being told not to use 4G?
The solutions out on all of the web sites is to add software that disables data communications when the phone screen ...

I dont work for Sprint, hell I despise Sprint, but I have to defend them from your ignorant rant. Yes, if you use numerous applications, leave your bluetooth on and use 4G data (2G drains slowly,3G moderately faster and 4G fastest) the battery will run out quickly.
Additionally, what they were nicely suggesting is when you are not using your bluetooth, turn it off so you can save battery life. (I cant believe I have to defend "turning things off saves battery life")
And why exactly do you customers lie about battery life saying ridiculous stuff like its last 30 minutes. We know it's a lie and you know it too. If you're not going to be truthful to us off the bat, why should they to you? Yet despite you, they were truthful in this situ...

You don't know how I talked to the Sprint Rep. In fact.... Courtney (that's his name, I've known him for a couple of years and like him quite a bit) is a good guy and i was VERY nice to him.
I just expressed frustration that the only offer was to ask me if I kept my blue tooth off.
Like I said... I was VERY nice to him... just frustrated that a phone that has the power and features of this phone only comes with a 1500 mA battery (and that's not even necessarily SPRINT's fault).
Also, as I noted in a followup message, 30 minutes was a bit of an exageration... it is more like 3 hours (which is STILL UNACCEPTABLE).

Dude.. its a phone/personal computer.
If your not using any bluetooth devices then turn its function off. (pisst saves power)
If your not in a WiFi area.. turn off the function so that the phone dosnt use power searching.
If you know there isnt any 4g around then turn it off.. (again saves power)
There is a widget called a power management bar.. check it out.

You need to treat these phones like a laptop computer. if your using it a for 3 hours surfing the web, watching you tube, texting, ect ect your downloading data and that uses juice. The processor on board uses power... the screen is only sucking out 10% if not even that.. understand that your prob goin...

Sprints claims of 4g are true and I need to see some proof on how they lose to the big guys 3g. I did some real world test the other day with a guy on tmobile and Sprint's 4g wipe the pants on tmobile's so called 4g like experience. Sprint 4g is fast and when I say fast I mean competing with my wifi fast. On average I'm pulling in 5-6mbs and have gotten as fast as 8mbs which is a lot faster then Sprint and Verizon's 3g is capable of! 😎

I'll agree that the battery life is probably not the best, but it's not the worst either. I am not using 4G, partly because it's not available yet in my area, and partly because I don't need the speed for browsing. I didn't buy this phone because it's 4G capable. I do have my wireless turned on all the time, and I have not yet enabled bluetooth because I don't use it regularly. With occasional use of both work and personal email, as well as just playing with the phone because it is new to me, the battery lasts over a day and half before it needs a charge. This is not a big deal because I'm accustomed to charging my battery nightly anyhow. I understand that you're upset about battery life with all the features turned on, but let's get some ot...

My frustration is that I AM in a 4G area, Atlanta, and DO USE my BT headset as I am a management consultant that is in client's offices using conference rooms typically so don't have a landline and am on the phone quite a bit with my hands on this keyboard.... so hands free is important (as well as in my Benz my phone BT connects to the audio system for handsfree operation and I am on my phone A LOT in the car).
Now look. I'm used to abusing my phone's battery. I had a PPC6700, 6800 (Mogul) a TP and a TP2 before this. I have always carried EXTRA batteries in my pocket and ALWAYS plug my phone into my laptop or car (I even paid to have a hard wired co...

Have you found out specifically if it's the combination of both the bluetooth radio and 4g radio that kills the battery or one or the other? I've paired my phone now with my car and tested it, but again, leave the bluetooth off until I need it. Does your battery usage utility tell you what's actually drawing the most power? (Settings/About Phone/Battery Use is what I'm talking about for those who are interested in this feature.)
I agree that it would be nice if the phone had a battery with enough power to use all the features for at least most of a day. I personally don't feel like they have to provide all features 100% of the time, because that's probably not how the majority of users utilizes a phone. Remember all the talk of fuel cells...

It is getting less than half the battery life of the I-phone 4G and the I-phone is pushing more pixels. (And no, I'm not an apple fan, it is why I own an Epic...)
To the earlier poster who said 4G drains faster than 3G, that actually isn't the case with this phone. (see link above.) It is odd that 3G drains faster and I'm guessing that's a major design/software issue.

Look anyone who has a problem with this post needs to grow up and not comment. I have the same issue with this phone. I do not use the 4g, wifi, BT, or GPS and my phone still doesn't last more than 3 hours. I've downloaded very few apps and can not even use my phone at work (9-5). So there is no excuse or reason why my phone should die within 3 hours. I can take a 5 minute phone call and my battery will dramatically lose life. I'm not exaggerating or being dramatic. I've had sprints service for 7 years and have had tonsssssssss of phones. I just got the phone and I plan on taking it back to sprint for a new one.
