4G Epic
Can the 4G be turned off on this phone?????
...
Why would you want to do that? The 4G on sprint is slower than T-Mobile's and at&t's 3Gs, if you want to get that phone at least use the O.K. data speed it provides 😕
...
I have sprint and don't even have 3G in the area so would like to know if the 4G can be tuned off like in the Evo Please
...
Yes. Many reviewers have said the manufacturer warned them to turn off 4G if you are in a 3G or only marginal 4G area. Otherwise it will use up extra battery power trying to connect 4G.
...
Also be aware, if you are on 4G doing something (like web or even a call) and go into a 3G only coverage area, it will drop the connection/call and you will need to reconnect/re-call.
Also if you have no 4G svc in your area, they will still charge you the extra $10 for the 4G svc.
...
i believe your mistaken.. the data connection is different than the voice when moving from 4g to 3g. Voice is a standard connection with the original 2g chipsets (and 3g). Though Data may interrupt for a moment when the two cells finish there handshake.. between 3g and 4.
oh and calls are dropped all the time (att noticeably) when your cell cant transfer to the new cell.. 2 3 or 4G
But when you make a call on a cdma network data is suspended during a call anyhow.
...
Wrong the call will not drop if you lose your 4g connection and you can now talk and surf the web at the same time on Sprint. Also the extra $10 is no big deal because its still way cheaper then Verizon and att and if you need a phone with this much power cheaper than t-mobile as well. So you can't go wrong switching to Sprint or upgrading to the best mobile device in the US right now! 😎
...
The 4g is only in select areas. If your area does not have 4th generation network it is pointless to have it on. ATT and T-mobile speeds are much slower than Sprints 3rd Generation network. Mr. Mystery please do not make general statements unless you know what you are talking about.
...
Sprint...you get for what you paid, meaning...not much.Enoguh said.
...
I'm going to assume you meant, "You get what you paid for"? How are you not able to get what you paid for? Do you need to pay hundreds of dollars for the same service if not worse from the same type of network CDMA to feel like you have "much" I'm not trying to even defend Sprint/Nextel I just don’t like people who put asinine comments on here with out any reasons. Again do you have any experience with other carriers Do you know what you're talking about?
...
And what carrier do you have? Because right now Sprint is the best carrier of the top 4 hands down unless you don't have good signal nothing Verizon, tmobile or att offer even comes close.
