I plan on purchasing an Android phone really soon and it's down to the EVO 4G and the Epic 4G. I'm really diggin' the EVO, but I really like the screen on the Epic.

Any suggestions?

personally I would prefer to get the Epic 4G. Why?

-a smaller but still having a big bright 4 inch screen.

-the battery life on the Galaxy S phones is supposed to be really good. credited to the AMOLED screen which is supposed to use less power.

and best of all it has a PHYSICAL KEYBOARD....!

the keyboard alone is the reason why I would choose the Epic. But thats just my personal choice... 😁

Same boat as you; the reports of Evo battery life and Galaxy S phones being somewhat better (although reviews differ) pushed me to wait for Epic... the superior hardware specs and keyboard didn't hurt either. Although some complain that Touchwiz is inferior to Sense, I'll likely end up rooting the phone and putting a standard android 2.2 ROM on it anyway. Close call and you can't go too wrong, but I'm waiting for the Epic.

I had the EVO and loved it! I decided to take it back and get the Samsung Moment for now because I really didn't like not having a physical keyboard. The one that comes with the EVO isn't bad but I didn't like it. I miss having the 4G and everything on the EVO but the Moment suits my needs for now. I will be getting the EPIC when it comes out. I would still have the EVO if the EPIC wasn't coming out. I just hope it's soon!

I am in the same boat. Good thing I can't upgrade until Oct. so I can see how the Epic4g fares. I have a hero now, and really miss having a physical Keyboard. I guess it doesn't help how the Hero keyboard gets laggy at times... Sense UI is great, and does a good job at integrating things like facebook and twitter to your contents, so I will be losing that, and some of the fun HTC widgets, but really, as long as the phone isn't a dud with major bugs, it seems like the epic 4g will be the way to go so I will have a keyboard again.

I recently got a chance to play with a Samsung Vibrant (and an Evo right after at a sprint store), and if that phone is any indication of what the Epic will be like (sans keyboard and 4g, of course) it beats the Evo hands down in my book.

I downloaded and played some of the 3D games from th android market on both phones, and in every game, the Vibrant was faster, more responsive, smoother, and I played much better. Most likely due to the extremely fast and powerful GPU within the Vibrant ont top of the 1GHz Hummingbird processor. I'm not sure if the Evo has a GPU, but if it does, its certainly not better than the Vibrants. No way.

Now, while the screen on the Evo is huge and quite beautiful, I can say with confidence that I have NEVER...

Go Epic, the EVO is a great phone and all but keep in mind that it was the FIRST 4g phone. Samsung did wonders on taking the faults from the evo and delivering a phone that might as well say beats HTC's evo. The super amoled display is my driving factor. The quality of videos, games, ect... will be amazing. PLUS its the only Galaxy S phone that has a full keyboard AND flash. Oh and the 4G makes the phone one hell of a device. wait for ittt!!

If you like playing 3d games or a physical keyboard is important to you then you have to go with the epic. On the other hand the evo has better cameras and you don't have to worry about it getting 2.2 upgrade. The rumor is that Samsung doesn't support their phones all that well.

The major drawback for me with the galaxy s phones in general is that they seem cheap somehow. They feel cheap in the hand to me. Not only that but the UI seems somehow cheap as well. And the way the launcher just plain rips off the iPhone irks me no end. the HTC phones just offer a much more mature and polished end user experience. Which is something that I value.

Then again that gpu and samsung media center sure would be nice. It all just goes to show...

Personally I feel like the Epic will be a good step forward with the 4G phones. The EVO is amazing and does everything anyone could really want in a phone, but there's always room for improvement. One of the main things that I feel will attract people is the physical keyboard. Hopefully the keys won't be arranged in an odd maner like the Samsung Intercept is. If they keep the layout very simple it should be a big hit.

Another tip to keep in mind with these new Android phones (any of them) is to kill the apps, don't just hit the home button. If the app is running, it will both slow down the phone and cause the battery life to slow down quite a bit. Also, don't keep all the features of the phone on at all times. If you aren't using bluetoot...
