Form over Function?
This is a really dumb idea to me. What is the point of having a little ticker screen when you already have that nice big old screen at the top? Seems like a waste of space to me.

From what I've read, if you tap the sides, you get the bottom to light up, giving you a quick view of what's going on without turning on your main screen. This could REALLY help battery life

It allows you to see a text message with out having to open the text screen. So if you are in middle of another app. I love that feature on my Fascinate.
