Other Carriers?

does this mean it will only be available to att customers?

And appearently micro-sim cards are going to make sure it staus with the only carrier that has micro-sim cards.

There is nothing stopping TMO from providing micro-sims, there is no lock on them. In any case its a moot point for the phone doesn't support AWS, so even if its unlocked, you're stuck on edge.

But really, what incentive does TMO have to use microsim cards? If they did, the iPhone 4 would pop up all over their network, costing them a fortune in data costs with no benefit to them. They don't get to sell the device and all they make is the data charge/month, but we know all too well just how much data the iPhones use...at&t just released new tiered data prices obviously aimed at heavy iPhone users. When the contract with att ends, I wouldn't be surprised if carriers such as VZW didn't take it just because of how much of a data hog it is.

has anybody noticed that they added a new spectrum to the cdma band? 900 was not supported on the 3gs. Sounds like a cdma loop hole to me.

Umm...their data plans don't rock! And it's kinda hard to have a smartphone that rocks w/o data. 200mb's really isn't much, nor is 2gb's!

It is actually more than enough for 98% of people. If you read the articles, AT&T did their research on this before changing data plans. Everyday, people came into AT&T asking for cheaper data plans, well thanks to those customers, AT&T listened and answered well. Go and do some research on the reason's why AT&T changed data plans. Then you will learn much.

Thanks.

I honestly do no agree with those numbers. I know thousands of Smartphone/Iphone/Ipad users who blow through 2 GB like candy. 98%> Yeah right.
AT&T is well known for their network issues. They promised this much and only delivered that much. They are well aware that their data network is lacking and overloaded most days. So one way to limit data use is these new plans. You want more data, you will pay for it. Yet they still have not updated their infrastucture, though they claim they are. I've seen zero improvement in their data speeds, nor 3G access in the last year. ZERO.

I get customers who come in daily with network issues because AT&T just won't seem to spend the money to update their capacity.

It's not about the consumer and ma...

OK, I like your reply, but not to be rude, do you supervise them while they are doing their everyday thing? I don't think so, I do not either, I am going by what is written in writing by official sites and the knowledge of facts. And as for the limiting the data service, go do some research to confirm how many people uses what amount. Also, using data on Wi-Fi does not count towards the mobile usage. I am not trying to insult your intelligence but I am making sure that you are taking this into consideration. Wi-fi data usage, and mobile data usage are two different things.

Thanks.

i have an iphon and am an extremly heavy user. I use my iphone more then my att sales rep. On average I only use 1 gb. The average user only uses about 400mb. why pay for something most people will never use.

First, I've had an iPhone for years, and when they first announced the new plans, I was worried because I use the data all the time. Turns out I have never exceeded 2gb of data.

As to at&t not investing into It's infrastructure, completely not true. I've seen my entire city go from no 3G coverage what so ever 2 years ago to complete coverage in the city and beyond. Further, they have added about 14 new towers in my area in the last year, a friend of mine being a contractor that helped in it.

yeah but Android really has nothing on the iOS... let alone iOS4

your Evo is like a Celica, no matter what bodykit you put on it, what turbo charger under the hood, and size of rims... its still a Celica.

the iPhone on the other hand is a TANK, you cant customize the wheels, cant add to the engine and you cant change the bumpers but you can completely dominate any obstacle that gets in your way.

LoL, an EVO 4G is not a Celica, maybe some of sprints lower end phones. And Sprint is not like K-Mart, I've had AT&T and Sprint and Sprint is actually better than AT&T. So its more like Buying a Nissan GT-R (EVO 4G on Sprint) which is already fully loaded vs. a Chevy Corvette ZR-1 (iphone on At&t), both really really nice cars, but Nissan (Sprint) is a better and more reliable company than Chevy(AT&T)

there's a reason they've got more than sprint.

AT&T's churn rate is much much lower than sprints.

Dear DJBPAH,

Check your facts, and then check the actual specs for both phones. Then try posting or editing your post.

#1: Both phones have same processing speed of 1GHz

#2: Unlimited data does not exist for new customers for the iPhone, prices have gone down to $15 for 200MB, and $25 for 2GB of usage.

#3: iPhone may not have an HDMI output but it wills surely have a converter/adapter for it.

#4: Hotspot capacity: Woohoo? Big deal you can connect a couple devices to the internet through it thus slowing the overall speed of the internet. Good thinking I guess.

To add on as well, ATT's 3G network will be upgraded within a year to HSPA which is 7.2 MBPS, this is about double to its current 3.6 MBPS speed which I am calculating...

WTF is wrong with you, Wi-Fi and mobile data is two different things, tell me I am retarded. Original post is towards the Wi-Fi in the building at the time the bloggers and all people were there, not the phone being on mobile data not connected to Wi-Fi. So yeah. Sorry but you posted something that doesn't have anything to do with this thread.

Thanks.
