Battery and Charging Question

This is my first smartphone so I apologize for not knowing this. I usually turn my phone on about 930a or 10a and not off until midnight or 1am. Should the battery be completely drained at the end of the day? My Dare was able to go 3 days without needing a charge but not my X so far. Granted I do use it some more than the Dare but nothing drastic. When I check where most of my battery power is going, is says my display is taking up 83-90% of my power. I did a picture of mine from my pc onto it, but it's just a picture of the beach! I've also lowered the display brightness but that doesn't seem to be helping much. Any ideas?

Also, I've now misplaced my charger (go figure) and wanted to know if I could use the charger from my Dare to...

your going to get a day maybe 2 on pdas in general... i have had a smart-phone for over 8 years and this has not changed lol only because the screens get bigger and brighter and the batteries have to get bigger to compensate... just a couple of tips try putting your screen in the setting menu to auto that way your screen will adjust to the brightness in the room... also check you syncing stuff ie twitter, email, facebook, etc they might be on the lower settings try backing them to 1hr... this helps a ton too. but that screen wow big and a gas guzzler if you catch my drift.

I just switched from the Dare to the X also. We are not going to get anywhere near the same batery life from the X. The Dare was a battery sipper. With average usage I could go 4 days easily between charges. With the X we have that HUGE screen and a 1GHZ processor to power. Not to mention, if you're like me you've been playing with the X a LOT more than you probably did with the Dare.

I've found that if I charge the X overnight to 100%, I will still have around 20%-30% battery at the end of the day (and that's with doing quite a lot on the new toy). Oh, and yes...pretty-much any micro USB charger will work on the X. I have used my old Dare charger to charge the X already from both the wall plug and through USB.

Thanks for the info Matt. We went from a 3-inch screen to a 4.3 inch screen, the screen is actually bigger than then entire Dare was (full phone measurement) 😲

I have been playing around with it way too much (mostly been trying to get the 7 home screens setup just the way I want and browsing through the Android market...lol). At the end of the day, I have about 20% to 30% power left, which you and most have confirmed is normal. Oh and thanks for the info about the charger, the Dare charger was charging the phone but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing any long term damage to my expensive new toy. lol.

One other question......when I plug mine in at night (it's off btw) and the battery life was around 20 to 30%, as soon as I...

Hmmm...I don't know. We don't have a land-line anymore so I never turn my cell off. Mine's still on at night when I plug it in to charge. I haven't seen or noticed it do that.

I'm really enjoying all the X can do, but I still have to get used to the size. The Dare was a great "pocket size". Don't get me wrong..I'm lovin' the X. I just gotta get used to it. As far as Android goes, it's pretty amazing.

disclaimer: I have a droid, not a droidX...

The Dare charger will definitely work. I use mine as a travel spare. I also have a nook, which uses the same micro-USB charger, and has a longer cord, so I use that for my home charger. I *have* noticed that it takes somewhat longer to charge, depending on the charger you use, some charger apparently cannot supply the current the charging circuits want.

I also routinely charge my Droid from my PC, and while markedly slower, it also works very well. I'll hook it up to my computer when I go to bed, and then when I get up in the morning, I'm 100% charged.

There's several things you can do to make your battery last longer. Setting screen to auto is one. Turn off GPS if your not using it,...
