google maps / vz naviagtor
I currently have vz navigator on my phone
The CSR told me it was going to cost me extra to have it on the droid x.
I had heard the droid x comes with google maps & turn by turn instructions.
is this true? does it cost? do i need vz navigator, or is that just a way for them to get xtra money out of me?
can someone please clear that up?
Thanks

First of all, you are paying extra for VZ navigator. You just may not realize it. If you have the old "premium" package (such as what came with the Dare, or Env2, among others), then it's "included", but if you really look, the main thing is "free VZ navigator". They don't have the premium package anymore, so any plan change pretty much will result in you paying for it.
The X should come with Google Maps and Google Maps navigation, which in my experience is much more powerful and flexible than VZ navigator was. For example, you can store your contact's address in their contact, and it will show up in the list of destinations when you go into maps.

VZ Navigator is great, but it is no comparison to Google Maps that comes on this device. Voice turn by turn is great, but whats awesome about Google Maps is that you can get street views and satellite views, of course they are not live images though. There is a small icon of a microphone and all you simply do is say "navigate to ______" and watch the Droid work. I Work for Verizon Wireless and i am a huge fan of the Droids and recommend them to every customer. The HD is brillant as well!! 😁
