To root, or not to root

Any advice on rooting would be appreciated

This reminds me of the geico commercials. "did the little piggy really go 'whee! whee! wheee!' all the way home?"

There's several programs that are only available if you are rooted, and you can always unroot/revert back to stock before you take the phone in for repairs, should those be necessary; so really, why not?

Titanium backup is awesome. scheduled backups, plus it backs up system settings, not just apps, and it is capable of taking apps installed from sources other than the market, and adding them to the market, so you'll get update notifications.

Also WiFiTether for Root, which (at least on OG Droid) allows wifi tethering to the 3G (which Verizon claims the OG droid can't do), but doesn't cost the extra $20, and isn't cappe...
