This seems CRAZY to me but i can NOT find a way to MARK ALL AS READ in my pop3 email account that i have set up on the Incredible. I have to go through all 50 emails and read them manually in order to clear the green. what a pain. Am i missing it? please advise.

Isn't there a checkmark for you to select? I have it on my droid. Select the email, and then hit Menu, and then select "mark read"

U can easily mark an email as read by clicking that button u speak of in the menu or simply just reading the message. HOWEVER, what I am trying to do is mark all items in the inbox as read at one time without doing the above task 50 times or so. Example.... I wake up and check my email on my pc. Now when I get to my phone, I don't need to read all 50 emails again. I just want to "mark all as read". Can this be done? It is a common function in every email app I have ever used.

There is not a "mark all read" option, but you can do batch operations. such as select all the emails and then go menu->mark read

I only use Gmail though. It might be different with HTC's pop3 client.

I do not understand why you would want those 50 e-mails "Mark All as Read". Did you want to save them on your phone?

If you do not want to save them on the phone, why not "Delete" those e-mails you do not want; since you do not want to read those e-mails again?

Open your list of 50 e-mails...
Select "Menu".
Select "Delete".
Place a Red "X" for those e-mails you do not want and select "Delete" (note: it will say how many e-mails you are deleting in the selected batch) and the selected e-mails are gone.

I'm not sure why what i want to do seems so unusual. Here is the scenario...

i want to save at least a month of emails on my phone so i can go back and search for things. Therefore i CANT delete them.

And since i (like most) get about 50+ emails a day, most of which i dont read because they are either SPAM or newsgroups emails that i dont care about or discounts from express for men or whatever (and please dont say that i should unsubscribe.. you know that is not a realistic answer), i need a way to "MARK ALL AS READ".

This way i can read the emails i want, and then mark all the remaining emails that i have not opened as read so that the UNREAD # COUNT reads ZERO instead of 74!!

This is good because then if i see a number g...

Why don't you just read them. If you see they are spam delete them? 74 unread emails is a lot. What if one of them was telling you you won a lottery, and had only one day to respond?

OMG!! Why isn't anyone getting this!?! I totally understand you Hyemarko. I also get many e-mails a day and I do open them quickly but do not read them right away so that my e-mail counter resets to zero, so when new e-mails come I know they are there and i can read them at my leasure. This would be an awesome feature.. not EVERYONE reads their e-mails right away. And not everyone delets everything right away also.

thanks northstar - it really has been the only truly annoying thing on this phone. Besides of course the battery life.

I have stopped trying to mark individual msgs as read. it got tiresome. Now my two accounts are up to 99+. thats where it stops. It always says that now. and of course there is no way to get rid of that msg.

so.. i will say it again.. to all htc droid incredible programmers out there. Give us a simple way to mark all msgs as read. thanks in advance.

peace
