I found this on the Android forums, a little tip to help extend your battery life. They also have a Seidio 1750 extended battery for $50 that is apparently no thicker than the original. Here's the details on extended the stock battery.

From home...

Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks (second one) > Enable Always-On -- checked by default, I unchecked it.

It says in its description that it may cause battery drain 'on certain' networks.

Gentleman, I think by certain, they mean CDMA.

I lost the first 15% of my battery (100% down yes 85%) this morning with the phone sitting asleep while I showered and got dresse...

Today was my first day testing this new theory on a full charge. So far, 8 hours into my day I am noticing MAJOR improvements in battery life. Normally I'd be at 50% by now with fairly light usage and right now it's at like 85-90%.

Could be, if you are in a poor coverage area and Verizon relies on other networks to get your signal, it could hurt that situation.

After a week or two testing this theory, it has been less and less of an impact. It may save me 10-15% at this point.

I just received my 1750 mAh battery which I know will help things quite a bit.

You initially found big savings and then it stopped? Love to know your experience with the 1750 mAh battery.

Just to let everyone know,I took a chance on an 1500mah i got from ebay for $8. When i saw that price i couldnt resist so i thought id give it a try. So far it does seem a little better but i know I have to cycle it a few times for it to get better cause thats exactly what the stock battery seemed to have been doing, getting better after each charge. I'll try to keep everyone informed of my $8 investment.

It may have just been lucky at first. The battery just wasn't showing too much of a difference.

I'm on my 2nd full charge of the 1750 batter right now. Yesterday it was not good, but so far today it's killing even with steady usage. Seidio did say I need to wait 5-6 full cycles to really see the difference, but so far so good.

I recommend buying this battery from Seidioonline.com, safe and reliable. I'll try to update again in a few days.

I also ordered this battery and after a week of usage I can tell the difference. I get 12-14 hours of moderate to heavy usage (100 txts, some email and lots of web). It does take a few days of discharge and recharging to get it up to snuff but well worth the money. The only other thing I did to extend my battery useage was to turn off the "always on mobile" under mobile network settings. The only draw back to this setting is anytime you send/forward a pic msg (MMS) it fails the first time but is sucessful on the retry. Not sure why that is but only ocurrs when this network setting is turned off. Is anyone else expirencing this? I've also noticed that when I send a txt my display goes from "3G" to "1X", then back again. Anyone else ha...
