Rooting is easy, very easy even by Android standards. Then download Titanium backup and remove the bloat. And if you want, download the sql editor and change a file to allow off market apps. (sideloading).
As far as filtered AT&T apps on the market, two ways of dealing with this, both simple. 1. put the phone in airplane mode, then turn wifi on. You can get at any app in the marketplace. This is what I do. 2. Download marketenabler, pick TMO USA, the market will think you're on TMO and not AT&T, both are good. I use 1.
Can someone teach me, more in depth on how to do this? We are about to upgrade to Captivates and I am interested in getting the phone to perform the best it can. Thanx
