Best price- new service. Costco??

Hi...

So, about signing up for new service. Is the price the same where ever you go? It seems like Amazon and or Costco will toss in a few extra goodies like a auto charger or something. But is the monthly price the same no matter where I go? I am in Portland Oregon.

Thanks

Regardless of where you go, your monthly rate plan will be the same. The difference between purchasing the phone at a corporate store, and say a Costco is the price of the phone and special offers.

The EVO, however is usually priced the same everywhere: $199. There are rare exceptions, such as Samsclub.com, where it is going for $145.

The difference between a Costco, Best Buy, RadioShack etc and a corporate location is often the level of knowledge in the people you're dealing with. It's usually a trade-off.

You're typically going to pay more for the phone but the service is better or you get the phone for cheap but the person selling it to you either A) doesn't know what they're talking about and doesn't pretend to or B, and probably worse) is you'll get someone that thinks they know what they're doing and doesn't.

If a person activates your Android device Evo or otherwise and the first thing they do is install a task killer on your phone then they haven't done their research.

My two pennies.

Thanks everyone for the many tips. It looks like Costco has deals with everyone but Sprint. Consumer Reports said to go to Costco to get your best deal - all except Sprint.

I ended up buying my HTC EVO at Amazon Wireless. It cost $99.95 for the phone
$37.99 one time turn on fee, and two day shipping is free. It should arrive Monday.

The Sprint map says my house is in G4 outside area. I am excited!
