HTC EVO 4G
WiMax & LTE
Long-Term Evolution:
An effort to develop advanced wireless mobile radio technology that will succeed current 3G WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA technology.
Although "LTE" is not the name of the standard itself, it is often used that way. The actual standard is called 3GPP Release 8.
LTE is considered by many to be a "4G" technology, both because it is faster than 3G, and because it uses an "all-IP" architecture where everything (including voice) is handled as data, similar to the Internet.
WiMAX:
WiMax is the trade name for a family of new technologies related to the IEEE 802.16 wireless standards.
WiMax has the potential for very long range (5 - 30 miles) and high speeds.
The initial ver...

In real world scenarios, WiMAX is around 6-10 Mbps. I'm not sure what it is for LTE, but I assume slightly faster than WiMAX. However, once the technologies reach their next expected update, they both will can offer 1 Gbps for non-mobile or fixed users.
LTE speeds in Verizon's test are comparable to WIMAX speeds.
When you make a statement like that, make sure to do your research and not just go on spewing nonsense. Sprints reasoning for going with WiMax is/was due to the fact that the technology exists now/today. Even the heads of both sprint/clear have come to terms with the fact that LTE is the way of the future. What they have both stated is that the technology does not exist, but when it does it will/can be a seamless transition. So, coming from the sales and marketing field. Sprint is doing a great job of bringing what is relevant and effective to their customer's TODAY not 2 years from tomorrow. Smart guy.
