No 3G? No 4G? Might as well call it the Motorola GIMP.

I have to ask, "WTF, Sprint?" Why have you not done ANYTHING with Nextel since picking up the network?

If Nextel was still independent, they would have developed their own 3G/4G network by now. Sprint, on the other hand, has done absolutely nothing with Nextel. They seem embarrassed by it.

The 3G/iDEN "hybrid" phones did work, BTW. My ic902 has been a great phone and it works better than any other Sprint phone out there. I just wish they would list the complaints that people had with the technology.

In short, if the phone is not at least 3G, then Sprint might as well NOT RELEASE it. Keep your junk, and offer us something that works, Sprint!!!

I'm guessing what Sprint hoped when they bought Nextel was to move Nextel customers to Sprint's CDMA network, then sell off the iDEN network. But since they were many issues to that (and we still have a lot of customers with iDEN handsets), they still kept the iDEN network. I'm sure if Nextel was still independent, it would have a faster data network.

Now, if Sprint/Motorola gave the i1 a similar treatment as the EVO (have both iDEN & WiMax) then this phone would be something.

If wishes were horsed we would all be eating steak. From everything I have read and heard, Motorola has been working on a 3G add on for iDEN, but it would be a complete overhaul of the iDEN network. iDEN is based on TDMA, which is 2G. They do have WiDEN, but Sprint isn't going to turn it on, they want people on there CDMA/EVDO/WIMAX hardware.

When someone goes onto Nextel/Boost Mobile and SouthernLinc they are aware that it isn't made for high speed data. If they don't know they will find out. The saving grace for this phone when it comes to data is the WiFi.
