More of a generic comment than phone-specific, but why isn't any newly-released Android phone running the latest version of Android? This might help with the battery life issues.

With this specific phone, from what I've been told in training, it will NOT be getting an update beyond MAYBE 1.6. But for the most part with other phones its simply because the updates arent ready yet! They have to go from google to the manufacturer then to the carrier then released to the user - the problem: each step in the process requires more updates & programming so it can take some time. They're coming tho (for all those capable).

Unfortunately it looks like this phone or more correctly radio.... is DOA...

"Limited to OS 1.5"

With no hope of getting a 2.1 version on this ... its not worth $350!

$150 with the limits maybe....but its obvious that Motorola is not serious about this product.

I am a Boost Mobile Authorized dealer, I have spoken to my Representative and a few people from Motorola. There are plans to upgrade the software to 2.0 and then 2.2. The reason I shipped with 1.6 is because they wanted to make sure the Push to Talk and all the features native to iden worked before any upgrading is done. 1.5 is old. But because it is old it is well known with what it is able to do. Us Nextel and Boost Mobile customers are a finicky bunch, if it doesn't work right the first time we will turn from it and let it sink like the Titanic. I applaud Motorola for being cautious with this phone. However if you can't wait for 2.0 to come out, I am sure someone or some group is cooking a Android 2.0 or 2.2 ROM for this phone.
