For the Nextel fans this phone seems pretty cool, I mean a PTT iDEN Android phone was one of the last things I thought would come out.

But I don't think iDEN and Android will be good for each other data speed wise. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you really want to have lots of 3G coverage on an Android phone you can get one on Verizon.

But what about PTT? You can download an app for PTT that runs over 3G. No it doesn't work like iDEN it works like a regular walkie-talkie. Anyone that's on the same channel as you can hear you, even if they're overseas. Newer updates seem like the developer is trying to go in the direction of personal channels and the like. The paid version will let you use the camera button as a dedicatd PTT button.

So if you aren't a hardcore iDEN user and still want walkie talkie function you don't have to go to Nextel, but you won't be able to use it or talk to others unless you both have the app opened. But if you want all the bells and whistles of a true iDEN phone then you'll have to go with this i1 device.
