...a low to mid-tier Android handset. Very nice.

Not everyone needs a Droid Incredible.

I'm interested to see how the build quality is (and battery life). As long as it's decent, this could be a great alternative.

I do kinda wish they didn't recycle the env touch design though. But you can't have it all

From my experience, as long as it's not entry-level, LG's hardware is sound.

Oh I agree.

My only concern is the battery issues that plague the env3 and the envtouch.. from my understanding, the resetting is a hardware issue caused by a poor battery well construction.

I had the blue enV3 and never had a problem with the battery. Right now I'm using an LG VX5500 until my contract's up, and again, the battery has been excellent. But I also only use about 400 minutes per month. I don't talk much.

I find LG phones to be like Alfa Romeros. They are GREAT phones, going above and beyond the required standard, to give you superior performance on the network and within the phone, but for some reason they go back to warranty exchange. A LOT. That's not good for a company that used to make phones nigh indestructible (VX8300, VX3300) that would last a long time.

What's funny is the LG is a warranty exchange...but for another manufacturer. The LG's been fine. Next stop: Android!

I was actually pleased to see the design. I have the Env Touch right now and like the looks of it. I was pleased too to see the later pics where they changed it to black as it was going to be mostly silver originally. I know it sounds stupid, but I like mostly black with silver accents. I hate gold, which is what kept me from getting the Droid when it first came out (around the camera lens and the volume toggle keys are gold), that and I'm not a big fan of Motorola or HTC for that matter. Huge LG fan! I pre-ordered as soon as it hit the website. I wanted it so badly, I paid full-retail too, as I wasn't eligible for upgrade.

I've been an LG fan since since I've owned a cell phone. They have always made a quality product. Say what you want about Moto (Krzr anyone? lol) but they did alot of things right with the Droid. Very solid hardware and just a beast of a phone (size and speed). Its hard for me to bash HTC ,especially since I love my Eris. Its been great for everything I've used it for except a phone (phone goes silent having to battery pull to fix it). Battery life has been acceptable for me because I would charge it everyday anyway. The Ally is slated to have a 1500mah battery, and since 2.1 has a lot of battery saving optimizations, I expect it to be much better. I love that its stock android too. And at 600mHz its got a faster processor (atleast out of...
