I've been reading many of the threads in this forum, and I'm suprised to see that nobody else has commented on this proprietary BS.

Granted that I'm still new to the cell phone world (this is my second phone 610A), I'm am still in shock that in order to get your pictures off of the phone, you have to pay, to get new tones, you have to pay, whether wifi or get it now, games you have to pay, everything you pay, in addition to your phone service and the cost of the phone.

First of all, it's not a "phone" problem. It's what Verison wants. Phone doesn't control how you are billed for whatever using, it's always in the server. Plus, you will find yourself paying everything, from sending phone to download ringtone, using any kind of phone, with any kind of wireless carrier, in any country - no matter it's CDMA, GSM, BREW, Java, or whatever.

It is part phone and part service... Its the phone because it doesn't support any method of data transfer other then WiFi, unlike most Nokia's which support Bluetooth, Infrared, and data cable.

Its the service, because they think they have found antoher method to rape the cosumers.

Go to Nokias website, and go to the Dev area. Everything to dev for their phones is free. Free SDK, Free emulator, put it on the phone for free. All you need is the data cable.

Here is software to make and put your own, FREE tones on your nokia phone.

If you want to get files from your phone, there "is" method to download file throguh data cable, but you just can not get the tool. In the great United of States, it's all controlled by the telecom carrier. All Samsung can do is to follow Verizon's requirement; just like Nokia has to diable this function.
