BlackBerry Bold 9650
BB Bold calls are muffled sounding to the people I call
Blackberry used to be the standard in clear voice quality. I mean in the past a Blackberry was as close as you could get to landline sound. I have been very frustrated because calls coing in are very clear, but I sound muffled to others. I called my work voice mail and left a message and the call did sound muffled. I have done a complete wipe and still it sounds muffled. I even sent my first Bold back and got a new one..SAME ISSUE!

Yes and this is not a joke.
Hold the phone up to your ear and let your hand extend down below the bottom almost as if you were pointing your mouth at the palm area of your hand. The sound deflects off your hand and into the small mic hole and it cures the issue.

I had the same issue. They gave me a new phone. The new one works, but the Bluetooth doesn't. I, too, begin to wonder what is wrong with RIM. My first Bold was a replacement for a defective Tour. The only Blackberry that I owned that was absolutely trouble free was my 8330.

I guess I am a perfectionist. I like a phone to have crystal clear voice capability. This used to be a standard on a BlackBerry. It is ridiculous to have to hold a phone in a certain way to get better voice sound. Which by the way doesn't work very well.
I returned the Bold 3 times and it is the same issue. WHAT HAPPENED TO QUALITY!!!!!
I have called Verizon...give them a test call..and they say..you sound just fine. Right..I call any voice mail and I sound like I am speaking through a pillow. Not to mention the occassional "echo effect" where I can hear my own voice echo back to me.
I am sick of this acceptance of poor quality as the new standard!

Finally figured out the muffled call issue. Thanks for the help.
Hold the BB naturally, finger tips on edge left side of phove (volume rocker side), thumb along the right edge.
Make sure mic hole is aimed at the center of your palm and at mouth level.
Finally, hold the phone out from your face slightly.
Phone call quality out was significantly improved.
My only issue is I shouldn't have to work so hard for good voice quality! Oh well. I do keep trying.
