With the Evo out this phone is already obsolete

With the fast pace at which the Android OS is being updated, 1.6 is probably not that surprising. The OS has been updated in some areas from what I understand too. I doubt an update is far away

If you get version X10a (a is stand for America), it will work on 3G data plan of AT&T.

The software isn't what makes it obsolete, the hardware is. The hardware they used cannot support multi-touch.

Which of course makes me nervous that when I snag the Evo something will be out a few months later that eclipses it. My #1 grief with Android right now, how many bazillion models do we need? The obsolescence cycle is like 4 months!

There will always be the new boy on the block. The EVO will have its day in sun which the N1 and its sisters hold right now (Desire,Incredable).
