At&T Towers

I have the V600 phone for 3 weeks and have one more week to decide whether to exchange for V180. I am told that the V600 will only work with AT&T towers and not Cingular and can only get network to network with other AT&T customers. Since AT&T is sort of out of the picture, does this mean my service will get less and less? I also find the phone too heavy. I would get the V180 except that it only has 5 voice activations.

Where are you located. If you are in a market that was sold to Cingular and you want to be able to use both Cingular and ATTWS towers than you want to purchase a Cingular phone with the 64 k sim card. If you are in the Carolina's or PR, you are going to be handed off to Suncom in the spring, and the Cingular merger has no benefits for you whatsoever.I would go for maybe the V505, it is a bit better than the V180.

thanks sarahjae. I live in Long Island, NY. I spoke to ATT and they said that my phone would first search for the AT&T towers and if it couldn't find them it would search for Cingular. That is not what I've heard though. I took AT&T because I got the free from 7:00 p.m. on deal with 900 anytime minutes (family plan).

The rep was right in that your phone will search for attws towers first and if cannot find it will go to Cingular, but it will just be for voice. To get the benfit of being able to use both towers for aspects of wireless service, take advantage of the rollover minutes, have the largest network of m2m, as well as having the up to date technology, you need to go with cingular. ATTWS will stop offering phones within probably a few weeks of you are not in a divesture market (carolina's or PR), so if you need a replacement fon or a new fon, it will not be available through the carrier, as well they have taken away promos and features, we were jsut told yesterday the customers changing plans or activating new serivces will not be eligible for earl...
