I have a v600 that was a week old and worked fine. I called and got a replacement today because of the recall. The new one works fine as well but the screen now has a washed out look with more green tint???? The screen does not look as good !!!!! Debating wether to send new phone back and keep old one?? I am not sue since my original phone is only about a week old was it in the problem group ? I did read somewhere that the screen is what was causing problems with the 850 freq. Maybe that's why the new screen

I must be a lucky guy.
Back in January, I bought 2 V600's. I bought them from www.plemix.com.
my wife and I are using them on the Cingular network here in Long Island, NY.
Except for the fact that the phone reads "T-Mobile" I have had not 1 problem with these phones. They are both unbranded. We always get reception, and very very few dropped calls.

I have 2 units that I went through the replacement process with. One was like the unit you describe- a washed-out & green-tinted screen and the other was very good. I kept the good one and sent the other back and decided to just keep the original since it has a very good screen.

In the end, I determined the date codes moulded into the case worked like this: The better displays were made after the middle of June 2004 and those are the same dates most people reported for their replacement phones. The bad one I got was from the last week of May 2004.

No reason to keep it if you don't like it.

Heres my take on this...I've been agonizing on this recall thing for a month now....Heres what I have concluded:...If your phone WORKS..DON'T REPLACE IT...chances are you have one of the later versions mfg'd in June and beyond.
I have checked my mfg date and its on my wedding annivesary ...ughh...June 14th....My software version IS the same version that Motorola is sending out in their replacement V600's.
These June phones and beyond seem to be working fine for most folks..I have not experienced any of those problems that other folks have had..Don't act in haste..It appears that early software and screen versions have given this phone a bad name.
My only gripe is being able to hear a caller...sometimes its ok...other times it sucks.....
