I am thinking about buying this phone, but if it as bad as people have been reviewing it, can anybody make a suggestion of another phone similar to this with less bugs and almost the same features? Thanks.

Unfortunately, in the U.S. your choices are fairly limited than compared to the rest of the world.
If you venture out and shop at some place like mphone.co.uk, you'll find many options like the SonyEricsson clamshells not found at U.S. carriers or the cool Samsung's, etc. It's like a being a kid in a candy store. Get the phone, pop in your SIM, and the fun begins.
Otherwise, I have a V600 and think it's a great phone with none of the problems people report. I have not hacked, seem edited, flexed, or whatever and maybe that's why my 2 handsets work perfectly. Or, maybe I just got lucky.
