"The Motorola V300 and V500 began shipping earlier in the quarter and are available today, and the V600 will ship imminently," Lynch said. "Unit volumes, however, are lower than our customers are asking for due to supply constraints for the integrated-camera components."

Hopfully we'll see it soon, but when it comes out you better get one quick because it looks like the supply will be limited.

Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking? Is this an attempt by Motorola to create a demand and drive the price up on the coveted V600 phone?

If that is what Motorola is doing, it's a stupid strategy. Motorola is already lagging behind Nokia in sales as well as technology. Motorola always seems late to the game with their phones. Although, I must admit that I still own a V60 and that when the V600 ever comes out, it will be my next phone. Is it too much to ask for a phone manufacturer to make a phone with a metal casing? Maybe Apple should start making cell phones.

It would behoove Motorola to release this phone ASAP. The holiday shopping season has already begun and I'm sure that the advent o...

I would doubt that the delays are just a marketing ploy to drum up demand. With the holiday season already underway and number portability starting to pick up steam, it would hurt them more to keep the phone out of the spotlight of the general consumer population. Holding it out only drums demand with a core group of people like us that actually know about it.

Give the quotes by motorola executives posted in these forums and the article on the front page of phonescoop.com, I'm just wondering if this phone is actually going to be available, even in small numbers, by the end of December, or is it more likely sometime in January or beyond?

It is very unlikely that this phone will be available this year. It's time to move on as I am doing if you want something for christmas. Even when this phone comes out, it will be hard to get ahold of with demand what I'm sure it will be and with limited numbers going to production.

The new article referenced Q1 2004 for the V600. When a company mentioned this broad timeframe, you can bet it will be late February or March. If they had any confidence, they would have given a tighter timeframe on the release date. Just look at Motorola's first estimate on their website when they stated "2nd half of 2003." I love their phones, but man is their company broken.

🙂 The V600 is available on the private market and unlocked. Go to www.samstores.com to see it at the cheap price at $979.00 which is usually about 1/3 higher than the regular price!
