You people who flash are nuts.

First some fanatics talk themselves into nearly spending $600 on a phone from a webpage, and then you obsess over altering its software so it works better.

You people are worse then Star Wars geeks who wait in line weeks for a ticket, I swear to god.

Now yes, I say this because I am utterly jealous...

But

I will spend only $300 (if that) and I'll have a version with stable software. Who's laughing now? Ha! And all I had to do was wait just a couple more weeks. Sure you have your Plemix orders, but none completed more then a month ago.

The REAL V600 gets released this coming week!! YES!

Yea yea, Im hating. But mostly Its because I am annoyed at the amount of post asking about flashing software. Its so freakin repetative.

Okay, you will Spend $300 when it gets released. Here is the breakdown of what those of us who are "nuts" did.

Bluetooth Headset: $120
Face Plates $15
Data Cable and Software $100
Phone (at your price) $300

Total: $535

Premium Paid to be one of the first to use this awesome phone = $50. Well worth it in my mind.

not only works better but has features that you'll never see on your locked-down AT&T phone. you'll only be getting what AT&T wants you to get.

you think AT&T's will have "stable" software? hah. you obviously don't work with computers. no software is bug free. why do you think AT&T has held off on the phone already for months? bad software. no. the people who get AT&T's first batch of v600s will be the beta testers. you'll have to be lucky if/when AT&T fixes any bugs and upgrades your phone.

my v600 is just as "real" as any of the other ones that have been on sale around the world for months. at&t isn't going to have the "real" version of the phone.

as for your $300, once you factor in what you're paying for your 2 year contract and...

Scott,

Calm down. Hot_md_guy won't even have to pay for his service. He's an AT&T wireless employee.....DUH! He will pay $300 or so for the phone, but that's it. Please before you flame a poster here, check to see what his history is, and where he comes from.

On the ringtone issue, he asked where he can get belt clips or ringtones that "don't suck". This is a valid issue as most of the ones available online right now do just that... suck.

He does bring up one interesting point:

As an ATT subscriber I get the phone for $299 with a 2 year contract - what is it? $150 to get out of it? I might want to consider the Plemix $580 option b/c it gives me the freedom to change carriers...my current contract is normally up this coming August.
As for the other calculations, I have a bluetooth headset and carkit already...with bluetooth on my computer, do I need a data cable? I am on a Mac so that might limit what I can do anyway...

well. you can always ebay the parts you don't need like the headset. definately the "package" is a better deal from plemix than just the phone itself.

as for the data cable, no, there doesn't appear to be any mac supported software and it doesn't work under virtual pc as many have pointed out. but you have no access at all to a pc? friend? relative? work? if all you want to do is a quick flash all you need is 30 minutes or so on their computer. you never know. it might come in handy.

it should be noted the cable is USB. so all the mac needs is drivers/software.

Whoa, holy crap. There are some passionate people LOL.

Thanks MD_Techie for at least looking at both sides of the story. Sure the post was a troll but I just knew someone would indeed try and -Flame- me. (no matter how much they recant)

Correct me if I am wrong, but the entire mood of the post was joking and I SAID I was jealous..

To be honest I was trying to draw Cassie out to say something (Heh, sorry but I just wanted to show she wasnt "sweet")She never responds to my post...-sob-

Anyways, first let me address the guy who did the -math- He said phone at MY price there would be a $50 difference. But I pointed out the phone at the PLEMIX price. Which is way more then $300. So at that mathematical logic, he is paying $325 more. ...

I am the "guy" who posted the math. You completely missed the point which others got. I paid about $350 for the phone...then I paid another $225 for headset, data cable and CD, additional face plate. All of which I would probably have bought anyway because AT&T does not include, or even sell the data cables for most phones.

So, I will repeat...a little slower this time. I paid an estimated $50 premium to have the phone early.

As far as Cassie - she has been one of the most helpful people on this site, and I doubt there are many here who would disagree.

Oh boy now you have upset me.. What do you think the v600 runs off of? the old TDMA? no so guess what just like your "200" million customers know there service is going to crap and thats why the company sold themselves. As for tmobile i am an employee of that company and happen to know that the reception is awesome and i guess you forgot that it alos rated as a better carrier in Consumer reports and your awesome little company got last.. So there goes the all mighty crap at&t now as for the v600 you dont think at&t will be the only one with it do you? LOL Cingular and Tmobile will get the v600 and they are waiting on the BETA AT&T Testers :-) Well i await your response// 😲

as you said your message was a troll..

enjoy your AT&T v600 when you manage to get it. until then i'm very happy with using my v600 (plus all the extras it came with) now with whatever service i choose. the $575 i paid for the phone, headset, faceplate, software, cable and shipping were worth the cost to me obviously. i have a much better job than mcd's so it wasn't more than a blip in my wallet.

again, if you're as intelligent as you proclaim to be, try searching (hint #3: google.com) for yourself for ringtones and clips for a phone you don't even possess yet.

if at&t's software is so stable, why has it been pushed back 3 months in development? you think it's going to come out 100% bug free and perfect? you have A LOT to learn abou...

Hot_MD_GUY or anyone else:

Is it possible to forgo the data cable and only purchase a bluetooth adapter (costs around 10-30 bucks). In theory would they not be the same tools, just a diffrent form of delivery?

I currently use the Nokia 7210, pretty rare phone to get, and pretty expensive if you want one, and its over a year old.

actually. i wasn't flaming him. i was pointing out the valid reasons for getting a phone not from AT&T. i had no idea he was an ATTWS employee, but i don't know if that's a blessing or a curse.

as i said, his phone is no more or less "real" than anyone else's. and he'll still be stuck with an at&t branded phone with their flex (unless, of course, he flashes it with someone else's ;-) )

personally, i thought his posting was a troll. but there's no reason he should be scaring away other people considering purchasing a v600 outright on their own from someone other than AT&T.

as for clips. define "suck" anyway. as with any new phone that comes out the accessories are always out a few months later after the phone gains widescale marketsh...

I actually agree with you hot_md_guy....all I want is a phone that works international in Latin America when I travel. I don't need all that other mumbo jumbo that would cost me over 500!!! on a phone!?!?!?!? It's just a phone!

I'm calling it now: 2 weeks

The funny part is....My understanding is that the headset is coming with the phone from AT&T.

I guess I look at the fact that I HAVE to buy service from someone.

The fact that I have unlimited calling for 99 doesn't hurt🙂

I do like the fact that I can call AT&T and say hey my phone is not working right and get a swap.

That is why they(and other carriers) are so anal retentive about releasing phones....they are "stuck" servicing them.

All that being said I wish I could have bought one for 600 months ago....but it is so close now I might as well wait...oh and BTW if I HATE it I can return in less than 30 days

Just my .02
