Motorola V600
Anti Climactic US Release.
Well, I guess everyone is buying the phone from Plemix, so this is no big deal. But today, in AT&T's National Retail Website (Our intranet) An announcement was made that stores should recieve V600 materials (demo's, etc) no later then March 26th.
I guess the Motorola rep was not lying to me after all. And the Motorola CEO's promise of the phone in 30 days is accurate. Let us all pray that the phone works well, and is not buggy.
With 2 year contract, the phone will be $300. If you are still within your Plemix return policy by the time the phone is released, you can save a few bucks. Be sure you are clear with them about that.
Our prayers are answered. The phone is finally here.

When you say the stores should receive v600 materials no later then March 26th, is that just the demos, advertising slicks, etc. or does that also include the actual phones for resale?
If not, any mention as to when the phones will be available?

It means the dummy, price cards, and spec sheets will be in. Usually, however, the actual phones are never far behind. Maybe about another 2 weeks or so.

If people see a post from me about a week back, they will see, even then that I dropped the news about the 26th, actually, the 27th. I am still sticking to my post that the phone will be released to the "A" list stores for retail sale by Monday, 30 March 2004 at the latest.

no. but by the time you pay $299, lock yourself into a 2 year contract, and end up with a branded, locked phone. you will have paid a lot more.

well i've had my phone from plemix a few days now and while i'm happy at&t will finally get it in a few weeks i think i got the better deal. look at it this way:
$575USD for unbranded unlocked phone (package cost)
Sell 801 headset (i have my jabra 200 still) on ebay, estimate $100 (i've seen 'em sell for far more).
Sell Samsung x426 on ebay, estimate $75 (again i've seen them sell for more).
Include the software, cable, extra faceplate and fact that i have the phone a month (if not more) earlier. i'm not locked into a 2 year contract. the plemix deal doesn't look so bad at all any more.
