PLEMIX

HI all -
I need advice/help. I live in NYC, don't have an account with ATTWS or TMOBILE, have account with Verizon. Here is my question:

- if i purchase from Plemix, how easy is it to have an account opened with either provider and utilize the V600?

- am i limited in functionality by selecting one of the providers?

- with all the correspondence flying around on setup MMS, etc., what does it all mean.

thanks in advance. 😳

out of curosity, why do you want a v600? it's really a phone for the tech-phone-power-geeks..

but to answer your questions:

1. you'll have to open an account with cingular, at&t or t-mobile to use the phone in the US. or one of their resellers. basically anyone who uses the 800 or 1900 bands.

2. depends on the provider and your plan and their support for the phone. AT&T has the best support at this time, cingular will too. t-mobile, should work, at least the basics.

3. check the "Glossary" link on the left side of the web site. it will define lots of terms there.

thanks Scottjl -
I am a tech-phone-power-geek at heart (it just doesn't come out that way via my questions).

to follow-up, once i open the account - will they be able to activiate my phone? or do i have to comb through the messages here and figure it out myself?

well that depends on what you mean by activate.

basic phone service should work with any provider.

web, mms, sms, "mmode", etc. should work with most providers (cinguar, t-mobile and AT&T) following the various directions posted here, contacting their customer support or looking under their web sites. you may need to have extra features added to your account (for example AT&T's "mmode") which are usually an extra fee. without mmode you get basic phone use, voice calls. with mmode you get internet access, etc. AT&T's plans for mmode go from $3 to $20 a month with extra charges if you go over your data limit.

when you get a phone from plemix you get the phone. that's it. no service plans. no contracts. no accounts. you need to either ...

True also if he needs to set up the WAP and MMS for ATTW he can do it straight from ATTW via their OTA tool. That is what I will be doing with mine when it gets here. As to ATTW if he joins them, I suggest that he picks up one of the free phones which comes with the SIM, activate and then switch the ATTW SIM into the new phone. I happen to like ATTW's service in NYC and it has imporoved dramatically in the past 6 months (I am talking about the GSM service).

No problem. Just ask away. Scottjl has been one of the most helpfull here. He is the one that lead us to Plemix. If you need the OTA link at ATTW just let us know.

you're welcome scottjl! and I have GetOne all the way back from March 4th to thank for turning me on to the deal from plemix 😉 ... I took the plunge a few days later after another AT&T rumor date slipped and got me all disappointed. I can sleep well now too 😉
