I happened to talk to customer service at Cingular 2 days ago. She told me that Cingular may carry only the V400 model around Jan/Feb timeframe. Not sure how much they know but this is what she told me.

Did you read the article, it did not say anything about Cingular geting the V600, the article wasn't even targetd at the V600, it basically spoke about Motorola being late with their phones, plus thats an old article look at the date.

If you would have read the article completely the CEO of cingular made a statement saying that they were geting the v400 and v600. Read it again. It's in the 13th paragraph.

let me lay down the facts for you guys.
ATTWS and T-Mobile are both GSM based companies.
Cingular is a CDMA based company.
That's why motorola built the V400 for the CDMA based companies. And if you don't believe me call Motorola for yourself.

Read the facts: Cingular and AT&T Wireless are BOTH GSM and TDMA, T-Mobile is GSM only...

And to clear once and for all, Cingular will be offering the V600 and the V400, but delays from Motorola have hindered their early 2004 release:

Cingular, a joint venture of SBC Communications and BellSouth, said its original plan was to have two different camera phones in time for the holiday season, but those are delayed as well.

"The delay in Motorola's integrated camera phone will limit the choices we offer our customers," Frank Boyer, vice president at the No. 2 U.S. wireless operator, said in a statement. Cingular does not expect one model, the V400, until mid-December, and the arrival date of the V600 is unknown.

O have talked with my local Cingular technician, and he has told me that they are getting the v600. The only problem is that they won't get it until around the end of March or April.

Isn't it possible to get this phone elsewhere and have it 'unlocked'?

I'm already on GSM with Cingular and the coverage in my area is OK. I've been holding onto my T720 until the V600 is available. I'd consider buying one elsewhere to ditch the 720 sooner if I knew for certain that I could use the phone with Cingular even though I didn't purchase it from them.

Is there any truth to the unlocking theory?
