text message alert

Got the phone a few days ago through alltel and i like it. Lots of features, lightweight...
There are a few quirks i'm having to get used to.
Question: How do i change the text message received alert...can barely hear it.

i'll answer my own question as best as i can... in the messages menu there one named alert. set the alert to be ring and remind...the first will be the norman soft beeps and then each time thereafter it will be a nice loud set of beeps.
