You can either pay the monthly tethering fee to vzw which is $30, or you can download an app called pda.net (or something like that). And what you would have to do is follow the directions in the app which will prompt you to download a file and copy it to the computer. After that installs all you would need to do is have the computer connected to the phone via usb and have the program running. However beware. If you are using the free app you will not be able to go over 5 gb for the month or else you will get overage charges. Also I believe that the free app is actually a free trial, you will be able to use it after the trial is over but you won't be able to access secure websites. With the monthly tethering fee you will have 5gb of us...

Tethering isn't officially supported yet. There may be solutions out there like the one that CCK807 mentioned, however.

It's definitely not the same thing. You can move a LOT more data on a PC than you can on a phone. That's why there's a far more restrictive allowance.

In the Market, download PdaNet. Then on your computer, hit up June Fabrics at http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php and install the program. It's like a 20-day trial after which you can't access https:// sites while tethered. Drop the $20-something dollars for the program. VERY worthwhile and you get free lifetime updates. This comes in super handy when in a classroom where I get a super weak wireless signal. It's also incredibly easy to use.
