Hmm...tempting. I'm curious as to how far along it is. I mean, if people are claiming that it runs well, then surely the official release can't be that far off. I wonder if this will have any effect on our ability to receive the official update once it's out.

I think I'll pass and just wait for the official OTA update. From what I've read of the known bugs, I think that the small annoyances that I'd experience with the update would minimize the appeal that the added perks would. Here's a forum thread that discusses the various known issues:

cool link i havent ran into any of those problems my phone works great! one thing i did notice that doesent work is the urban spoon app. it will pick a place for me but when i hit the directions button for it and it tries to load the page it wont do it but that could just be because of the developer of the app or something....ethier way man u can wait or not thats your choice your not missing out on much besides the turn by turn, all the new widgets, the new marketplace, pinch homescreen (allows you to view all homescreens) wich is cool, all the 2.1 apps, and just little stuff like that....i dont think u would be dissapointed either way, if u did it now or waited. but i can tell you that wichever one you do do youll love the new 2.1 either w...

I'm not concerned about the update process. My problem is that it destroys a lot of the experience with the things that I like about Android. I mean, a lot of apps won't show up in the Android Market with this leaked version, and the individual user experience seems to be a complete gamble. I don't feel like figuring out how to get basic things that I'm already using to work in an official build, and nobody's yet managed to determine whether or not this will affect OTA updates.

Thing is, given all of the issues that people are having with this leaked version, maybe the release isn't quite as close as I was expecting it to be, unless this is just an older build compared to what's done up to this point.

apps like what wont show up? i have yet to not find one..not saying that their isnt any out there but could u give me an example so i could try em? the phone in general is so smart i may not even worry about the actual update to be honest. lol ill probably have this phone till i die i just cant imagine anything more to offer ya know? i mean im sure in the future there will be rediculus internet speeds to where its not compatible with this phone but what im trying to say i guess is what it offers as is leaked version or not 1.5 or 2.1 i love the phone in general and dont really see many "problems" with the leaked version if any at all and honestly dont see any MAJOR changes they could make that would actually make me regret the fact that i di...

Anything that's copy-protected won't show up in the Android Market until Verizon Wireless allows it for that particular build (or just 2.1 for Eris, in general - not sure).

I've also heard that links from other applications won't open in the browser, and the assumption is that the executable for the browser changed in terms of its name. Also, I noticed that some people's audio completely stops working, even on calls.

Combine those problems, as well as everything else that's been reported, with the fact that I have some of the worse luck EVER, then you can probably understand why I'm not chancing anything right now. Besides, I've got an Xbox 360 that's arriving via UPS today, and I'd rather spend my time playing with that, not a phone t...

Nah, I can't stand FPS games on controllers, especially controllers with dual analog sticks. Oddly, I have absolutely no problem playing FPS games on Dreamcast.

I didn't want to purchase an Xbox 360 until I knew very well that the chipsets with higher failure rates were pretty much entirely diminished from retailers' stock. Just to give you an idea as to how bad my luck is...

- My Wii's GPU went bad only ten days into owning it.

- I once submitted three different orders to three separate online retailers in the same day. When each of them arrived, there was one defective product in each box.

- Oh, and that Xbox 360 that I ordered? Amazon charged me for it three times. I'm currently waiting for that to clear up.

Ah, by the way, I already own CoD4 on PC, and I'm waiting for MW2 to go down in price for PC, because I'm only interested in the single-player campaign.

Nah, because I don't seem to recall the PC version of CoD4 supporting Games for Windows Live. In either case, it wouldn't be fair, because mouse and keyboard absolutely destroys dual analogs as far as FPS games are concerned.

You can feel free to add me on Live, however. I don't mind playing, as long as we happen to have some of the game games. Send me a PM with a list of games that you play online, as well as your Live ID. I'll do the same. (You could, alternatively, just reply to the e-mail that you'll receive shortly.)
