Another Storm (Monaco) sighting

Article seems to indicate that the Storm name will probably be no more. Although I like the name, I understand why they may want to dump it.

While the specs push up...screen resolution, memory, improved camera, etc., RIM is still missing the boat on 4G, screen size, dual core processor, front facing camera, and is just not competing with the upcoming Android devices to be released shortly.

I happen to like Sure Press and would abandon it only if the Monaco offered more than just a few number improvements. The bold Touch has 8GB of storage on the phone. The Monaco, only 4GB.

This appears to be nothing more than a Storm2 refresh and seems to stay in line with BlackBerry's position of staying just behind the competition. With all the hoopla of the Torch release a few months ago, they still managed only a vertical drop down qwerty while Motorola was providing full screen hor...

I don't think much can compete at least in the short term with Android phones. A zillion manufacturers are producing just as many phones for many carriers. Android phones are literally outdating themselves within months of being released.
The latest tech will at the moment almost always be on some android phone.
Apple is even worse than RIM. It produces 1 phone per year and until a little while ago for only 1 carrier. Spec wise it sort of catches up every year when the phone is released and falls behind quickly.

I love sure press. It works well when you get used to it. Blackberry owners love their physical keyboards. They have the best ones out there. Sure Press was an attempt to keep some of those loyal customers and hopefully gain som...

RIM has not placed handset business in their list of priorities. Even the highly touted PlayBook tablet will be released as a not ready for prime time device, with no email client nor a 3 or 4G radio. They should be ashamed of themselves for so obvious a portrayal of technological weakness.

My Storm2, though frustrating and unreliable at times due to hardware limitation as it pertains to handling 3rd party software, still represents a BB device with several advantages. Email has always performed with the best of them. I've equipped my handset with pleasing to view themes, utility applications that work, and some unique apps that navigate, perform their intended function, and are rewarding to execute.

There are new apps such as Sh...

ah but remember the ipad released initially without the radios. The lack of an email client is bizarre though 😲 . I have read that a lot of RIM's resources are going into the Playbook. As soon as that slab is out they are supposed to redirect their resources towards getting that 2011 lineup out.

Apple had a smash hit with the ipad, but now the market is going to be crowded with these things. I think it's overkill and a gamble. A tablet won't replace my smartphone at the moment and it won't replace my laptop either. I would like it to replace one of them but I don't see that happening yet.

I think I am getting a Monaco. I have dropped my Storm2 a few too many times 🤣 It's now saving my pictures in an interesting rainbow of wacky co...

If you have Verizon as your carrier, you might not be surprised if the Monaco surfaces on Sprint or AT&T. Blackberry is a dirty word at VZW. They'd sooner release another Palm before you'll see BB in their lineup. You wonder how many shares of Google control the game at Big Red? 🙄

The Monaco is CDMA so it should be Verizon or Sprint. point well taken, Google and big red seem to be an item these days 🤣

RIM had better hope Sprint gets the device (odds 1 to 9 in favor). If VZW releases it, even after firing the guy that approved it, and after that nasty phone call from the higher ups at Google, do not expect it to be predominantly displayed in the VZW Stores.

The display model will be stored in upper racks in locked file cabinets located in the utility room where they keep paper towels, toilet tissue, and unsold Storm2s..... 🤭

So dead in here. I even heard an echo as I was screeming over at the crackberry site 🤣

I am due for a phone darn it! should I go to the dark side and get a new iphone? I hear they finally have a unified inbox 🤣 A Droid perhaps? Charging a 4G model will keep me busy several times throughout the day 🙄
Should I get a Monaco and be amazed or frustrated?

what to do 🤣

Ok I'll bite. Still have it and works. But, my wife has the Droid X2 and I must say, I may go that direction too. 4G is not available in many areas I frequent, thus not a draw for me. That said, I think I will hold on until this fall and see what shakes out of the apple tree before the snow starts... Kirk out.
