Search the web for an app called "FixUnreadCount" I found this over a month ago, so I apologize that I don't remember where I found it.
Basically, I was having the same exact issue a couple of weeks after getting my Imagio and was determined to find a fix. I found several people online that had this issue and a few people swore by this. Sure enough, I tried it. Whenever it has occurred (it has happened on occasion about 3 times in the last 2.5 months), I run this app and it fixes it.
