Nothing like that has happened on my phone. The first thing that Verizon support is going to suggest is a soft reset.

You shouldn't lose any data, but I'd back-up anyway before resetting. Turn off your phone, remove the battery, wait 15 seconds, replace the battery, and turn on your phone.
