I just talked to customer service and they confirmed the phone has been recalled but to a software problem. I was also unclear if and when it would be re-introduced. Since I actually like and want to keep the phone, I was advised to talk to my local store manager to determine how this could be handled. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but its still a great phone IMHO.

Self correction. Tech services does have the software in that fixes the data services problem that is unique to numbers ported from other carriers. I was also told the process takes about 30 minutes to complete. Will give it a try tomorrow and post results. 😁
