Maybe I'm stupid or the last one to figure it out but I was sick and tired of the only animated screen saver on the 8900 being that stupid girly flower blowing magic pollen in the air. This phone was really made for a girl.

I accidentally found a forum which said that the 8900 used .SAF extension on its screensaver not .GIF . SAF stands for simple animation format.
After spending a whole day trying to find SAF animated files or an APP which would create or edit SAF files, I gave up.
This morning though I had a brain storm. Why not just try to change the .GIF extension on my old aquarium gif to .SAF .

Find a nice .GIF file on the net you want to use. Preferably about the same size as your phone screen and not to many frames. I think anything over 8 frames wont show up and will work really slow.
Next, just rename the file (right click with mouse and select rename) to .SAF ...
Example fish.gif make fish.saf .
Login to your favorite mail client like yahoo mail and compose a message to yourphonenumber@VZWPIX.com .
Attach the newly renamed saf file to the email like you would attach anything and send.
When you recieve the "message" on your phone (might take a minute or a whole day depending on friggin verizon), select the message and under MENU choose "SAVE TO MEDIA".
Hit left soft key-7-2-2 and scroll right to "downloads". Your new file...

Just for info,,, I followed your procedure for a still picture that I had on my computer, and sent it to the 8900 via the instructions you outlined. The interesting thing is the pic was in JPEG format, and I didn't have to change the file extension. I don't know if this only works for still pics, or might also work for animated.

Yeah popaplease this is really cool but I can not seem to get it to work. This is what I did I found a animated .GIF pix on the net sent it to my 8900, opened the email on my 8900 saved the picture to my Media Galley, went to my Screen Saver settings, when to the downloads section and save screensavers setting as the anamated pix, but the pix will move. What am I doing wrong.

Please give a detailed example of how to acomplish this
