Audiovox CDM-8900
8900 Shutter sound. Wont turn off???
Even though page 84 of the Verizon\Audiovox 8900 manual says that the phone will "Not" make a sound when taking a picture in "SILENT" mode, it still does.
Any one having the same problem?
Is it a bug or is the manual incorrect (YET AGAIN)?
Any known fixes?

Manual is incorrect. I inquired and found out shutter sound cannot be turned off. Something about taking unsolicited pictures (i.e. privacy laws).

Privacy laws, Smivacy Laws. Its a good thing every other camera phone and digital camera takes pictures "silently". F'n Verizon!

actaully there is a new software version for the phoen that fixes this and some other problems the new one is to95vedmo3-5.189

Yeah, I have this firmware (just got the phone today) and I don't have any of the common software gripes described here (I can turn the shutter sound off, I can change the inner banner, and I don't get the "flashing" outer banner... though by my understanding the last may be tied to calling plan/area)
Lovin it, working great so far. My only gripe is the directional pad... too easy to hit the wrong thing. I need to get in the habit of using numbered menus. My old phone only had a few lines (LG TM510), so I couldn't see the numbers and never bothered to memorize. 🙂

where can I get this new software version? Is it possible to do a live update by dialing the *228 number and having it program itself or is the software carrier dependent which leaves me out of luck with Verizon?
