Is the N97 mini really a 3G quad band handset?

The Nokia site shows the 3G frequency bands as 850, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHz. This site and others do not include the 900 MHz band on North American handsets.

What frequencies does the N97 mini actually have? I've been looking for a 3G quad band handset to use for travel. So far this is the closest possibility.

There are no local dealers here where I can actually inspect the N97 mini. I hate to spend $450 for a handset that won't work in the USA and Europe.

This is a tough question to answer. There are many variants of this phone, I have the 3G NAM version, which has WCDMA 850\1900\2100, and the Euro version has 900\1800\2100. However, despite many of the stated specs on various websites being incorrect, I do think the Latin American version of this phone has QUAD band 3G. A real rarity indeed. I think you would do just fine with the NAM version as it has the 2100 Mhz band for European 3G. I think unless you can find the elusive Latin American version, you will have to choose between having definite 3G coverage in Europe and none here, or having 3G here and possible coverage in Europe. I got this phone on NewEgg.com for $419.00, no tax, free shipping. So far, I love it.
