Whats wrong with 16-bit? Do you notice any difference between an 18-bit display?

The iPhone and Palm Pre have a 24-bit display. What gives here HTC being cheap with the 16-bit displays?

I didn't realize that the hero only had 16-bit display. I'm not terribly upset but it would have been nice to have something comparable to my iphone 3g. I don't watch alot of video or take pictures on my phone, so its not a huge deal.

I would have paid 200 bucks rather than 180 to get 24bit.

Actually, yes...I believe there is a difference between a screen that can display 65K+ colors (16-bit), and a screen that can display 200K+ colors (18-bit)!

But, I would've been disappointed if they chose an 18-bit display! Why they chose a 16-bit display is beyond me! There's no reason why they shouldn't have gone with 24-bit (in my not-so-huble opinion). 😎

I work for sprint and one of our corporate HTC Reps came in with a demo of the Hero, To be 100% honest you couldnt tell a difference between the Iphone/Palm Pre/Hero displays while they were all sitting next to each other... all looked right about the same.

To the naked eye there wont be much of a difference. The color was brilliant and popped right off the screen. I am extremely excited for this phone... the iphone juggernaut may just fall after this phone becomes available. Afterall, at&t fought hard to take the contract away from sprint (jealousy? i think maybe)

@oSTRIKERo

Do you know if this ships with Android 1.6 or 1.5?
